Friends Select offers for-credit accelerated academic courses and sports clinics through the 2024 Summer Enrichment program. Explore the courses below and discover your passion this summer at Friends Select!

Academic Summer Courses

NOTE: Credits for these courses will be given to Friends Select students as well as other students with permission from their school. Click on each course to learn more and sign up. 

Geometry

(FOR-CREDIT)

This six-week intensive course covers the standard full-year geometry curriculum. Geometry exposes students to topics in Euclidean geometry and to logic with deductive proofs. Students study polygon properties and theorems (major focus on triangles), circles, congruence and similarity, trigonometric ratios, and areas and volumes. Upon successful completion of this course, students are prepared for the next-level math course. For questions, please email Matt Rosen at mattr@friends-select.org. Prerequisite: Completed Algebra I.

Algebra II

(FOR-CREDIT)

This six-week intensive course focuses on strengthening students’ computational skills in solving equations and graphing linear equations. Topics include: simplifying expressions (polynomial, exponents, roots, rational), solving linear and quadratic equations and inequalities, solving systems of linear equations, and graphing linear functions. Friends Select students must earn a B or higher in this course to move on to Precalculus. For questions, please email Matt Rosen at mattr@friends-select.org. Prerequisites: Completed Algebra I (all students); B or higher in Geometry (FSS students only). 

 

Precalculus

(FOR-CREDIT)

This six-week intensive course prepares students for calculus. It covers trigonometric functions and their graphs, right triangle trigonometry, polar coordinates, complex numbers, sequences and series, and limits of functions. An introduction to calculus topics will be covered, if time permits. Additionally, Friends Select students must earn a B or higher in this course to move on to Calculus. Prerequisites: B+ or higher in Algebra II.

Weeklong Summer Sports Clinics

Friends Select offers three weeklong sports clinics during the 2024 Summer Enrichment program. Click on each course to learn more and sign up.

Soccer Clinic

Kick off a week of soccer excitement at our summer clinic! Designed for students in 2nd-9th grade, this action-packed sports clinic focuses on skill development, teamwork, and fun. Led by Friends Select teacher and varsity head coach Barry Lynch, participants will learn soccer fundamentals through extensive drills and skill work for 1.5 hours per day. Limited spots are available—sign up now! Clinics run from 4:30-6:00 p.m. each day. 

 

Softball Clinic

Slide into a week of softball fun at our summer clinic! Tailored for students in 2nd-9th grade, this dynamic program offers skill-building, team play, and loads of excitement. Led by Friends Select athletic director Bill Klose, participants will learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding, and enjoy friendly games for 1.5 hours per day. Limited spots are available—sign up now! Clinics run from 4:30-6:00 p.m. each day.

 

Field Hockey Clinic

Enjoy a week of field hockey fun at our summer clinic! Designed for students in 2nd-9th grade, this engaging program focuses on skill enhancement, team spirit, and loads of fun. Led by Friends Select varsity coach Mariko Cummings, participants will partake in extensive drills, skill work, and friendly matches for 1.5 hours per day. Limited spots are available—sign up now!
